Biography
Out of a deep love for beauty, harmony and authenticity, Janna Van Mechelen’s life has unfolded as a journey with music as the leitmotif.
After studying Transverse Flute at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp and years of perfecting her craft in England, she was part of several musical ensembles such as ChampdAction and Ictus. Several album recordings and concerts followed, in Belgium as well as abroad. She also started working as a flute instructor.
During this period, Janna kept looking for the most sincere and free form of making music. A desire for liberation awoke and a long spiritual quest began. She delved into the body-oriented work of Jean Klein, performed self-examination with the consciousness trainings of Harry Palmer and followed a sound healing course according to the acoustic differentiation method of Juultje Tatrai.
A turning point in this quest was a meeting with her first teacher, Philip Renard. His loving invitation to realize who we really are, found a deep resonance within her. In addition, he introduced her to the teachings of Ramana Maharshi, Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj and Longchenpa. This path led to her current teacher, Rupert Spira. In his presence, she could recognize her true nature, an irreversible experience that continues to unfold in all facets of life.
